NSERC ResNet is a national research network advancing how Canada monitors, models, and manages the ecosystem services its landscapes provide, from carbon storage and freshwater to pollination, flood regulation, and recreation. Its research captures intricate relationships across a broad set of ecosystem services, but that scientific complexity was hard to translate into something decision-makers could use, since most tend to consider one service, or one place, at a time.
Curbcut designed and developed the front-end for ResNet’s Ecosystem Services Observatory System for Canada (ESOS-C) and connected it to the network’s existing back-end. The interface lets technical and non-technical users explore the relationships within and between ecosystem services across the country, moving beyond single-service thinking toward a systems-level view. Curbcut hosts and maintains the platform.
