The big news
Curbcut announced development of a nationwide platform called the Canadian Housing Observatory (CHO). The beta version is currently available online. CHO aims to:
- Centralize fragmented data
- Provide an intuitive tool for exploring, filtering, and exporting
- Empower stakeholders with relevant, local housing insights
The platform is designed to make housing-related data more accessible, understandable, and usable, with a full launch anticipated in early 2026.

The team is constantly improving the Curbcut experience
The organization upgraded underlying technology across all Curbcut platforms, resulting in:
- Faster load times
- Enhanced, more interactive graphics
- Smoother cross-device user experience
- Stronger foundation for upcoming features including AI-assisted chat, map downloads, and improved search capabilities
These upgrades are currently in beta on CHO, with user feedback being collected to refine the experience.
Organizational updates
What's going on in and around Curbcut
- Curbcut hosted a booth at the FCM conference in May, connecting with city councillors nationwide.
- Student interns are building a comprehensive nation-wide zoning database.
- Two new full-time team members joined: Oussama Trabelsi (Data Lead, formerly with Montreal) and Nicholas Foisy (Full-Stack Web Developer, McGill graduate).
